Read John 8:31-36
Freedom vs. slavery.
The little kite climbed steadily in the breeze exulting in the fabulous bird's eye view. “Look at me! If I could just snap this stupid string, I could tour the entire countryside. I could climb all the way to the sun!”
“Don't!” screamed the older, wiser kites flying nearby. “That string is your freedom!”
“Watch me! You guys are slaves to your strings! I'm going to be free!” And with that the little kite snapped the string. But instead of soaring, he crashed flat on his nose in the dirt.
The truth sets you free to become all that God intends for you to be. As you follow Him, He helps you to soar through life. But sin, falling short of God's plan, makes you a slave. How quickly we become wrapped up in anything that keeps us away from God's Word. We get distracted by television, or computers, novels or magazines, sleep, or fitness, food or hobbies, entertainment, etc., etc. ANYTHING that keeps us from spending time abiding in God's Word. All these lead us to slavery, not freedom. And the ultimate result is that we are not strong and healthy spiritually and we struggle and find ourselves powerless against sin. That's slavery.
It's your choice.
