The New Way

Day 219

Dear Explorer,

Re-Read Luke 19:11-27

We've been looking at Jesus' parable about the man becoming a king then returning and demanding an accounting from his servants.

I believe that at Jesus' 2nd coming, He will be the King who will call each of us to give an account for ourselves.

We've used the Circle Models before, and I will use them here to represent each group.

Let's summarize what I believe Jesus is saying.

From this parable, and from other teachings of Jesus, we see that the person who invites Jesus into their God-shaped vacuum and then obeys His instructions will receive rewards based on their obedience when Jesus returns.  The rewards will vary in amount in direct correlation with the obedience.  We don't know what those rewards will be, but I know that they will be good!

From this parable, and from other teachings of Jesus, we see that upon His return, there will be no reward for these people.   Even though they invited Jesus to come into their God-shaped vacuum, they did not obey or follow His instructions.  They lived their life on earth following SELF and therefore, did not benefit God's Kingdom.   They will be allowed to spend all eternity in Heaven with Jesus, but there is no additional reward.

Paul also wrote about this group in 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 if you want to investigate it further.

From this parable, and from other teachings of Jesus, we can see that the person who rejects Jesus

as King of their life is empty.  Their sins are not forgiven, and they are not allowed into God's presence.  They will not be allowed into Heaven.   In the parable, the King killed the people who didn't want him to be their king, but in an earlier parable (Day 197) we saw the empty man was sent to Hades, a place of torment and pain.

This is NOT God's plan for you!  He has done everything possible to make sure that you can spend eternity in Heaven with Him.  But it's your choice.  He won't force you.

If you are a follower of Jesus, what resources, gifts and blessings has God given to you to use to benefit His Kingdom?
