Dear Explorer,
As Jesus was leading His disciples through the ceremonial Seder, He gave new meaning to two of the elements.

And
Re-Read Luke 22:14-20
In the Seder, the breaking of the bread was to remind the Jews of God opening up the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross over. Remember that the “bread” is matzo bread – much like a large cracker. Crack! Isn't that a beautiful picture? God provided them a way of escape!
What did Jesus say would be the new meaning of the breaking of the bread?
There were four cups of wine during a traditional Seder meal. Each cup represented a promise from God.
The first cup: I will take you out of slavery.
The second cup: I will save you.
The third cup: I will redeem you.
The fourth cup: I will make you a great nation.
What did Jesus say would be the new meaning for the cup of wine?
What does Jesus mean by the New Covenant? (a covenant is a promise or contract)
God promised the people of the Old Testament that He would forgive their sins if they offered Him an animal sacrifice and obeyed His Laws. This was the Old Covenant.
But in the New Covenant, God says that Jesus is the Lamb sacrificed only once to pay for all our sins. All we need to do is invite Him in to enter this contract!
So, Jesus changed the Seder meal into something new. We now call it the Lord's Supper or Communion.
If you have the chance to attend a Seder – don't hesitate to do so. Everything about the ceremonial meal points you to Jesus, the Messiah! The Jews just don't see that – yet!
In His service, dale
