Dear Explorer,
Read John 4:34-38
God is always at work around you! One of the ways that that affects us is that we cannot judge who is ready to hear our testimony and who is not. When Jesus prompts us to share our testimony, we need to be obedient because we never know who He has prepared to receive our message.
What is a testimony?
We generally hear that term referring to a trial where people stand up and state what they have seen, heard or experienced personally. Our testimony as followers of Jesus is very similar. It generally involves telling 3 things. You need to tell about your life when you had an empty hole at your core. Then you would explain how Jesus filled your empty void and finally you would share how your life has been different since you made that decision. The longer you follow Jesus, the bigger your testimony grows and the more things you can share with others to help them understand how to fill their empty spot.
Jesus is talking to His disciples about being ready and willing to share their testimony with others. Because we don't know what those around us believe or think, we must rely on God to tell us when and where to share our testimony.
When we are obedient to share our testimony with those that God has prompted us to share with, we never know whether it will result in immediate results (their deciding to follow Jesus) or later. We may not ever see the harvest, but we must do our part to plant and cultivate the seed.
The Christian Business Men's Committee has a motto that I like. I can't find it now, so I'm not certain of the exact wording, but it was something like this:
I want to help every person I encounter today to move one step closer to Jesus.
Read John 4:39-42
This is a woman who was totally rejected by society because of her sin, yet, here she is leading the whole town to come to know Jesus. That's cool!
Is God in the transforming (completely changing) business? Yes, He is!
