Dear Explorer,
Read Matthew 12:43-45
And
Read Luke 11:24-26
It's great if Satan is kicked out of your empty core – but unless you invite Jesus to come in, forgive your sins and start to direct your life – you are still empty! And if you are empty, you are vulnerable to Satan's control.
Read Luke 11:27-28
What does this verse promise?
You will be blessed if you hear and obey God's Word.
Read Luke 11:16
We skipped over this verse yesterday. It implies that it is wrong to ask God for a sign from heaven. Why?
Let's talk about that for a moment. When you ask for a sign from heaven you are actually exposing your doubt. A person who says, “if there's a God, let Him strike me with lightning!” Is really saying, “I don't think there's a God! And I'll prove it!” This is different from asking God for confirmation of His will – if indeed we are genuinely seeking from a position of belief. We can ALWAYS ask God questions and seek His wisdom.
Look at James 1:5
What are two characteristics of God's answer?
What do you think “without finding fault,” or “upbraideth not,” or “without reproach” means?
The world makes us feel bad if we don't know all the answers. But God doesn't! He KNOWS we don't have all the answers and expects us to come to Him.
Now, sometimes God answers in ways that we don't understand or recognize. Sometimes I have asked God about a certain pathway – and that path suddenly shuts down – so I don't need an answer from God. But hold it – maybe that WAS God. I believe that He always answers – but His answers vary. Sometimes He responds with a “yes” immediately, sometimes He makes us wait a while and sometimes His answer is no. I believe that sometimes God wants us to wrestle with the question for a while until we can figure it out over time – instead of rushing ahead into trouble. But know that we need to take our questions to God with respect and reverence – not demanding an answer!
In His service, dale
