The Sadducees were a Jewish group made up mostly of priests. Unlike the Pharisees who had created multiple new laws, the Sadducees focused only on the Pentateuch of Jewish Scripture (the first five books of our Old Testament). They were considered the experts in God's law. But through the years, they had invited the richest and smartest men of the community to join them. So, they had become more of an elite social club. They loved learning the laws and discussing every aspect, but they didn't necessarily keep them themselves. They also held the erroneous belief that there was no resurrection of the dead. So, they believed that when your BODY died physically, then the SELF died with it and ceased to exist.
So, it's especially interesting that they would ask such a question. How would you answer their question to Jesus?

What was Jesus' answer?
Jesus says that in Heaven we will not be sexual beings because there will be no need for producing off-spring. That's an earthly thing. In its place will be deeper, richer relationships that are not dependent on gender.
Jesus expanded his answer to include their areas of misunderstanding.
I find that He often does that to me. I'll be praying about something that's on my mind or heart and He'll bring up peripheral subjects that I hadn't even thought about. Why? Because He knows my needs better than I do!
Jesus assured them that we will be alive and have bodies in Heaven – not spirits or ghosts. It will be incredibly fun to get to know all the greats from the Bible as well as followers of Jesus from all other time-periods.
Who do you look forward to meeting in Heaven?
I certainly want to see Jesus. I want to see my family members. But after that, I think I would like to meet some strong women leaders in the Bible like Deborah, or Huldah, or Priscilla. I would also like to meet Oswald Chambers who wrote My Utmost for His Highest.
In His service, dale
