Dear Explorer,
Read John 14:19-21
The world (meaning those who are empty) could only see Jesus' physical body, so once He died and returned to Heaven, they couldn't see Him. But when an empty person invites Jesus into their lives, (or for the early followers – when the Holy Spirit was sent to them), then the Holy Spirit comes into the God-shaped vacuum and there is an awareness of Jesus' presence inside of us immediately.
What do you think He means by “whoever has My commands…”?
I believe He is still referring to the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit knows all of Jesus' commands – if He's inside of you – then you will be told what to do whenever you need the knowledge. He's like a computer inside of you with unlimited knowledge.
Several years ago, I was in concert at a church in Hilmar, California. I was trying to explain the Holy Spirit guiding us from the inside when I realized the Holy Spirit was giving me a new idea – so I tried to explain that it was like the difference between a regular missile and a guided missile. I know NOTHING about missiles, and I certainly didn't know that this church was made up of mostly people who were stationed at a nearby Air Force base. Afterward, one gentleman very excitedly told me that his job was designing guided missiles at the base. He told me all about how parallel this example was to the Holy Spirit. I didn't understand all the technical details – but I was so thrilled that the Holy Spirit had guided me to use an example that I knew absolutely nothing about, just to encourage and bless these men.
John 14:21 is a big group hug. You are loved by God. You are loved by Jesus. You are loved by the Holy Spirit.
In His service, dale
