Dear Explorer,
Re-Read Matthew 28:18-20
As we finish up this section called the Great Commission, we see a beautiful promise. What is it?
Did you know that once you invite Jesus into your God-shaped vacuum, you are never alone again? This is a promise that you can bank on. It is secure. When you invite Jesus into your life, He forgives all your sins and His Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of you for the rest of your earthly life and escorts you to Heaven when you die. (Or if Jesus returns before then, the Holy Spirit will help you fly to meet Him in the air!)
Many followers struggle with the fear that if they committed a really big sin, then they would lose their salvation. What have you learned from this study of God's Word that would allow you to counsel them?
When the Holy Spirit comes in – it causes a “species change”. (Day 255). Peter denied Jesus when He needed him most yet was forgiven. (Day 313 and Day 356) Jesus says that He keeps safe all those that have come to Him. (Day 295).
Now, I'm not sure whether you can renounce your salvation. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to if they have indeed been transformed into a new species. I cannot imagine that they would ever want to return to their emptiness. I believe that most people who claim to have renounced their salvation – have simply renounced religion.
So, this promise to always be with us and to never leave us or forsake us is precious.
But there's something else that I want to warn you about. If Jesus is with you – wherever you go, then wouldn't you want to be careful where you take Him. If Jesus is with you – no matter what you are watching on your computer – then wouldn't you want to be careful what you are making Him watch. If Jesus is with you while you hang out with your friends – then wouldn't you want to be careful what you expose Him to! Being the host to the Holy Spirit means that we are responsible for the places we take Him and what we expose Him to!
But most of all, I believe Jesus was saying, “Relax, I'll be inside of you, giving you instructions step by step. You'll never be out of My sight. So, don't worry. I've got this!”
In His service, dale
