Dear Explorer,
Read Luke 11:5-13
Here Jesus is continuing to teach us how to pray. He gives a parable about a man knocking on his friend's door and continuing to knock until he gets what he needs.
Jesus is NOT saying that God doesn't want to give us things. He's saying, let God know your needs! I believe this is the basis of my fizzy soda praying. I KNOW I have a Friend who will supply all my needs – so I run to Him and bang on His door! I think God is pleased when we run to Him first.
I remember when my kiddos were little. I would see them struggling with something and my heart ached to help. It was hard for me to wait until they asked for help because I loved them so much. I think that's the way God feels about you and me. He loves us and desires to help us but often waits until we ask for His help so that we'll learn to ask.
Luke 11:11-13 is a re-statement of the same principle. God loves to hear from you, and He gives good gifts. Most human dads give good gifts and your heavenly Dad gives good gifts.
Note the last phrase of Luke 11:13. What did Jesus say was the absolute best gift?
I believe Jesus is referring to the Holy Spirit coming into your life when you invite Jesus into your empty core.
We need to say thank You for this amazing gift!
In His service, dale
