Dear Explorer,
Read Matthew 6:22-23
Your eyes let in light for your entire body. If your eyes are blinded, then there is physical darkness all throughout the body.
When Jesus says, “if the light within you is darkness….” What is He talking about?
Remember Jesus came to bring light to our lives. When we invite Jesus in, He lights us up from head to toe! But if we are still empty, or we are by choice not obeying the Holy Spirit, then all will be dark, and it will affect your entire life. Spiritual darkness is a lot worse than physical darkness.

Read Luke 16:13
I started working as a secretary when I was 16 years old. I continued to work at various places until my husband finished his education. In one of my jobs, I was the private secretary to one of the main men. But a few months into my job, the “higher ups” decided to reduce the number of secretaries. The remaining 3 secretaries were supposed to all work for the 5 bosses. Now, that might sound good in theory – it turned out to be a mess. Especially since each one of these men were used to having a private secretary. Here's an example of a typical day. I would arrive at work and have a stack of things to do in my in-box. Then my old boss would say, “I have an important paper that I need you to do first.” I would say, okay, and get started on it. But before I would finish, another man would ask, “Why didn't you do the work in your in-box? I was first!” I would promise to get to him next, but before I did, yet another boss would call me into his office and need help with a project. It was totally frustrating to everyone and total chaos. Needless to say, it didn't work very well!
Why won't it work to have 2 (or more) bosses?
God designed us that way. Now, you may discover that you have multiple bosses in life. It will be important for you to determine who is the top boss! My answer is “God!” When He's the Boss, everything else falls into its proper place.
What two bosses did Jesus name?
Were you surprised at Jesus' selection? How can money or wealth be your boss?
I believe our world worships money and wealth. I believe it is the “boss” for most people. When you make a decision based on money, you are letting money be the boss. When you make a decision based on God's leading, you are letting God be the boss.
I know a man who says God called him to the mission field but who said “no” because of money. I know a woman who is a high-up executive who says God has called her to step down and be a full-time Mom, but she won't do it because the money is more important to her than obedience. I know another woman who says God has asked her to change her career to another field. She's afraid she'll never have such a good salary in the new field. So, she's staying put for now.
I also know a woman who was obedient to God even though it meant financial ruin for her and her four children. She was obedient and God provided for them in amazing and miraculous ways. And I could tell you many, many stories of God's faithfulness when we have chosen to be obedient.
If you want God to be boss – you can't let money be in charge of the decisions!
In His service, dale
